Thread: Votekick/Voteban

I apologize in advance if this has already been covered, though I did scan through the suggestions and didn't see anything on this topic.

This is for Hideout.

the suggestion:

I was wondering about a !votekick and !voteban option that could require say 75% of the server to vote in order for it to go through. The voteban could only last like a day or 10 hours or something and could log an automatic report that management could review.

the reasoning:

I keep having to leave the server (and it's really starting to effect my overall feelings towards the server) because of trolls/hackers/afks/intentional blockers and teamflashers that piss the entire server off with no admin on and no way of getting rid of them. People can tell when there isn't an admin on and they take advantage of those times and go ape shit, I've even seen a lot of regulars who I thought to be legit take advantage of times no admins are on and troll.

It's a huge pain in the ass to have to try and hunt down an admin to come monitor the server, then when they finally respond or come in to ask them to kick these afks, or mute this one mic spammer, or shut down this particular troll, just to have the fucker stop breaking the rules as soon as the admin shows up so they don't get punished.

With a high enough voting percentage required I don't see how this could really be abused. i mean if the entire server wants you gone you have obviously fucked up and deserve it.

Since there isn't an admin on the server 24/7 I really can't think of a reason why this feature shouldn't be enabled. Please enlighten me.

For the most part there is always one admin on you can message for support either in vent or in chatbox here, but yes I do agree with you that there should be a votekick or voteban because I have been in your position and I know people act like assholes in the server until an admin comes on and then they act as normal as they can be, once they are gone again they are trolls. since there are a lot of afk's at times, i think the 75% should be lowered. You have to account for the afk's in game and also in spec.

yes indeed! i forgot to mention i know the admins are awesome and they will always come when you need it.. but that just doesnt solve the problem like you said yourself.

its just such a pain because admins cant just take your word for it, they need to witness it first hand and just like some skilled wallhackers these people know how to behave when an admin gets on and they have it boiled down to a science. you make a big deal out of it and get an admin to come on, then they get on and are like WTF? because everyone straightens up. its easier to just leave the server and go somewhere else, then come back later with the hope an admin has gotten on to play or the trolls left. I've pretty much had to stop playing on Hideout unless there is an admin on, and its seriously frustrating.

I didn't expect anything else to come out of you Allah. The minutes I see your reply I already knew what you gonna say.

One of the issue I could see is if the server drops to a low population, a few people can easily overtake the server by constantly votekick/banning everyone that comes in, that'd create unwanted problems.

And as for hunting down an admin, 99% of the time an SA or GA will be on vent, all you need to do is drop in and PM.

I totally agree with angel, I used to play on trP, and holy shit, there were upwards of 200 or 300vote bans a day let alone the 3 or 4 thousand vote kicks.

Well I was playing in the morning and there were only like 10 people on total, they weren't very good so it was easy for me to dominate the whole server.. anyway, after slaying noobs left and right without mercy and racking up around a 4.0 kdr, it wasnt long before 2 out of the 10 people accused me of hacking (they were on the opposite team, obviously). they immediatley started trying to voteban me.. LOL! talk about irony.

I guess i'll have to change my mind on this one, after i probably would have come close to being votebanned if this feature was enabled. i guess i'll just have to play when admins are on or jump through all the hoops to get one on as usual.. meh :/

It's a good idea, but it's too easily abused when all that matters is who would win a popularity contest, sometimes it's the hacker/troublemaker because people find it amusing...

Don't get me wrong I think people not guarding paper and then you see someone go in there...followed by 2 to 3 flashbangs...that shit's hilarious but hopefully it'll stop because of some active admin on vent. It's why I follow the admin and ban boards mostly, just to keep myself slightly in the know.

i like the idea of a votekick and ban but that could cause issues, id prefer if people would add admins and let us know if somethings wrong so we can deal with it.

another thing lucky is that im always on vent, and im always on steam, im easy to contact and available most of the day night and mornings, i come on if people are causing trouble since i have so many people added and i come on regularly to play and watch the server. add me on steam gaurenteed ill come help you right away if im there, which most likely i am
