Thread: AFK Manager?

Hey guys,

I play on dust2 mostly and a lot of the time I see people afk and no admins around...
Also the voting thing takes too long and not everyone does it.

So I was thinking like an AFK Manager, for example... if someone sits in spawn for a minute without moving it auto kicks them. This way the games would be faster and people would stop spamming "friendly fire" lol.

Just a suggestion.

nice idea but i have been in a few servers with the function but instead of kicking them it moves them to spec.
but its a bit harsh if it would kick them, for example if some one was playing for a few hours and goes afk to a min or 2 and comes back and there kicked i think they wouldnt come back to the server.

Well that would be even better.

who doesnt want free points? and people just end up saying afk in the mic and people go get them.

i agree with jimmy. However, if the manager is not needed. Just feel free to come on chatbox, vent, or pm a admin for whatever server you are in and ask if they could come in and move afks to spec. If upper management decides to use the manager that would be great also.

Well point of the game is to earn the points and killing an afk shows nothing... Especially when they're holding the bomb.. the whole round is fucked and ts would just have no option but to camp spawn til the bomber dies or eliminate cts... And the whole point of de_dust2 is to try to rush while the cts are camping at both A & B, then planting and then have the cts rush, otherwise the game would just have a lot of campers in it and rounds would be really long...

Also in dust2 people who are alive can't hear mic from the dead. For people who are alive its team chat only, and dead is all chat.

Of course you could do that but I would only do that if there is a hacker or someone trying to crash the server or just something major. But afk manager would save the persons time especially if he/she is at work, busy, or playing in another server without having to join just to move an afk to spec.

The thing is, any and all admins will go to their server to make it better..... Doesn't fucking matter if we're on a hot streak, we'll go fix it. Let us know, it's our duty to keep the server orderly, clean and fun.

You're not wasting anyones time by coming to find an admin, especially if you're having trouble with AFK(s)........ (you're just wasting your own for not doing it)

Ya I whole-heartedly agree with what Varmit & Cyanide said. Our job is to help out if we're available no matter what the situation is that you need help with (afk's, hackers, etc.). So don't be shy about getting us for something like that, we will be more than happy to hop in and help out

and anyways, you can always work on getting admin to help solve these problems which you applied.

Yes I know you would probably come and move the afks but why don't you look at this in a players point of view instead of an admin? What if there is no admins on at some certain times... I'm just saying that an afk manager would help out and it will always be accurate and fast meaning players won't have to wait for an admin to join or even go call an admin.

Also it wouldn't even matter if I had admin, I would still post this because I'm not gonna be monitoring the server 24/7, and I'm sure all of you also have work/school etc... This would just be a great little add-on to improve the server.

Hackers, mic spammers, racism, spawn campers & stuff like that an admin should take care of.
