Thread: Get rid of CS GO Servers and try a different game maybe?

Ok just hear me out...

Im not one of your always donation people so i dont have pull here but when i see certain servers just have tumbleweeds for weeks, its never a good sign.
NG is a community and as a community, you want it to grow. Adam does update the CS:GO Servers (when needed) but looking at the stats, its just awful.

For GS:GO in steam stats are currently
Current 29,432 Peak44,312
Thats more than CS Source yet our source servers are always packed with some people, while our CS:GO ones,ehhh...not so much..

Couldn't resources be put into another game and maybe use that game to bring more community members in instead?
Doesn't necessarily have to be a FPS but just a popular game that garners attention Maybe games like ARMA 3 or, dare i say it, Minecraft?
i would probably get some of those games to play with NG members. Those new games could even be used as gift for contests

Blinky, you don't have to have "pull" to say what you want to say. Were a pretty open community. With that said constructive comments are always welcome. CS GO didn't turn out the way everyone wanted but NG has put a lot of money into that server. I cant speak for Adam and Paul but I'm sure their open for reasonable suggestions. They may be working on something new right now. Their pretty good and turning bad things around. I've heard that Day Z is getting pretty popular. Lets get some input from others and maybe something can be proposed to management.

we use to have a minecraft server but that was causing problems so it got removed as well as the minecraft forums section not sure why though.

In honesty, those go servers are waste of space, not once have I seen people in there

There are new servers in the works, but as I discussed at the meetings, we gotta concentrate on what we have first - then add. If we aren't controlling what we do have, expanding further will only thin us. It needs to be done properly in order to be effective. The reason the GO servers didn't do good for us is because it wasn't done properly. We hastily put the servers up on Day1, while Valve continued to fuck with the game, and we had a sharp increase at first and then a major drop off. The game is doing very well, contrary to what others are saying -- and we will be rescinding what servers we have, and re-organizing to give it a better shot in the near future. At the time being, I am just keeping the servers up to ensure I stay up to date with the changes. It's not utilizing any resources at the moment, so I'm not worried about them.


Minecraft was removed because the map was getting rediculous, the box had 16GB ram and it was chewing through the ram to much it was affecting the other servers performance. Maybe those issues have been resolved, I'm not sure. TBH though, we didn't get much out of MC for what we put into it.


I am paying attention to Dayz, and BF4 (tho I doubt itll be dedicated server arch.)

What other Multipleplayer games are there with a decent following that is something WE can host?

DayZ would be nice as the Arma2 mod had a nice following. Were you thinking the Arm2 modded one or the upcoming standalone game?

COD Ghosts may be idk but is more of a seasonal title so its not really good for long term.
