Thread: All talk on Dust2?! Vote Poll!!!!

Hey guys! Personally, I would love Dust2 to be an all talk server at all times. I understand it is a strategy map but it is a bit too boring for me with only team talk on. I feel like it would be beneficial to be able to interact with everyone on the server and have fun that way rather than only have team talk. I am providing three options on this poll.

1. Vote for all talk all the time.
2. Vote for all talk when you are dead(It is team talk when people are alive but once everyone is dead, people who are dead can talk to each other regardless of team)
3. Vote for settings to be the same(Team Talk always)

I'd rather not have all talk. Let's people ghost.

All talk works good in hideout, not D2. Hideout is 50 times different than D2. D2 people actually play serious in the game and all talk would ruin that for people. All talk when dead would be perfect though.

I voted for #2, but personally I never have any mic audio enabled. Too many dick weeds screaming or acting like retarded mongoloids with open mics. If I wanna chat while playing I'd just login to Vent where the clowns don't roam.

Don't matter to me.

Spend more time in D2 and you'll see its not as serious as you think. Sure there are players who more skilled and play conservatively than Hideout but its not like the NG D2 is based off team play.

NG's focus as a community has been social interaction so why limit D2? Why not give it a try and see how it goes instead of coming up to a conclusion right away?

It's a fact that D2 is no where as busy as it use to be so its not like you're going to lose major traffic.

I say test it out and if you see that the numbers drop lower than it already is you can always change it back to how it was.

Pyron does make a good point. This community is very social and has been for a long time. Office servers seem to be where it's at for this place nowadays. Feels like d2 has died.

Honestly, dust2 does not have much to lose anymore. The server seems empty most of the time. It takes, what seems like, for ever just to get 20 people in. Once numbers are up, the absurd amount of bullshit that happens makes people leave. The whole no block getting stuck thing drives people nuts. The trolls a' trollin' gets way out of hand. TERRORIST spawn camping is getting stupid. No team work half of the time.

A lot of this comes down to lack of administration as well as lack of social interaction. Alltalk gets my vote now, not like I'll use it anytime soon though :p.

Take in some new recruits for dust2. Get some office regulars to spend a few rounds on dust2 with you. Permamute some of the trolls. Get rid of the blatant transparent texture users. Clean dust2 up and make it enjoyable. I, as well as other regulars I'm sure, have a hard time having fun there anymore.

Test out new stuff for a couple of weeks/months, experiment Hell, do in-game polls while server is running and see what people would like to see. Give D2 a custom MOTD with a public poll and advertise on there telling regulars to read the motd and do the poll.. GET RESULTS!

Just a few ideas I've got.

I like the idea of all talk when dead only. It could get too congested with all talk on all the time when there is 20-30 people in there and half of them talking. I agree with Duality about cracking down on some of the players that blatantly disregard the rules about camping t spawn cough fish cough... also the players that don't even attempt the objective are annoying. just my 2 cents

PS the no block mod sticking situation is annoying also...
