Thread: Restrict AWP on Regular Office/Dust2 - Add donatar Perk for Awp's

I am currently mulling over the idea of restricting AWP's on our regular servers; and adding a Donator Perk for AWP. This will NOT be on Hideout, ONLY Regular Office/Dust2.

I believe that this will encourage donations, encourage use of other weapons, and also limit the 100% awpness that sometimes occurs.


What's your opinion?

I don't play much on those servers but I guarantee your donation level will go up and so will the forum joins

This would definitely generate donations, but at the expense of how much server traffic? There are two groups of people. Those who dislike AWPs (hideout players) & those who like them (regular office players). You won't pick up any new players with a semi-restricted AWP server and the existing players may not go for the idea of essentially paying to use a gun that previously never cost IRL dollars.

I think this will cause a big loss of play in D2. Folks come because its an awp/auto server and then get good with it. There are very few 16K Awp servers out there. Not really in favor of this change.

My thought process with this is, it won't be restricted -- so when donators die, awps will still be availble on the ground.......Those that don't want to donate can just wait 30 seconds to grab one.... Which would also cut down on the massive awpfest at roundstart, which could increase actual playage of the maps vs first shot firings....

Traffic is really my intention for doing this. When the server is full, all awp's works fine - when the traffic levels are low, it becomes a problem because people don't enjoy a 2v2 awpfest. This would also help alleviate that, but still allow the awps....And let's face it, if someone can't really give a few bucks, or wait a few seconds for an awp, and the server isn't jam packed atm - is that something we should worry about?

Consider restriction to minimum 5V5 for awps/autos

You could have a time limit, so parts of the day donators only awps and other parts of the day everyone can awp.

Or you can have every 10 to 50 rounds donator awps only.

Just some ideas for the non-donators to keep them around,

Well if that is the case then my only hesitation before giving a yes vote would be in how many donators are actually playing at any given time? If you have a 15v15 game and only 2 donators I could imagine some players might crowd around that player hoping they die. That would be annoying, especially if it becomes intentional. Also if no donators are present it would essentially be like playing in hideout (or dust2 no awp).

Don't forget to limit the quantity.. I could see someone like me passin awps out to all my non-donating buddies
