Thread: votekick

im seeing afks occasionally.. specially when no admins are on.. would it be possible to turn on votekick? im sure enough players would vote and it would fix the problem


maybe you could make it a donator perk and that would week out any spamming or misuse by the general public

I think this has been suggested before. Personally I think it's a bad idea. Sorry but most people would abuse this, donator or not. Leave it up to the admins besides there is no reason to "Kick" the afks unless the server is full and there is a que to get into the server.

While I understand that the "VoteKick/VoteBan" commands can be abused by not following the popularity contest atm, I do think that it does inhibit the team balance. On several occasions on Office/HIDEOUT we have had up to 4 AFKs on a team making it almost impossible to make a go of it. I have seen this on both sides too. I kind of like the suggestion but I do think it should potentially be limited to donators and up. The only issue I see with this is if there is only 1-2 donators on then they can basically kick anyone they want. I realize we need to look at this from all sides. Just my 2-cents. Be good!!

Instead of kick maybe a move to spec option would be better. It is ok for peeps to stay in spec.

We could all say oh yeh that sounds like a good idea, but in fact it is a terrible idea. People would abuse the absolute shit out of it no matter if it is just to put them in spec,

In this occasion you really do have to be patient and wait for the admin to come,

that is my opinion in this, sorry.

I wanted to add on what frog just posted; you can always say that oh theres no admin on and people are afk. But I really barely see people use forums or vent, I for one am always on forums it is always open(phone or computer) vent I am always am on when at my computer. We need each member to use these when there is a problem, becomes much easier.

Or... or... here is a new suggestion. There is a shoutbox . Just ask for assistance there and someone would with you shortly if for what ever reason an admin is afk or not there.

What would you guys think that if only a donator could put up the vote and it would take the server players to complete the action? While I understand what Angry Frog is saying about the shout box, it seems like an almost petty thing for an administrator to have to come in and handle. I imagine they get overwhelmed. This way we place a buffer between helpful action and abuse as well as alleviate lesser demands upon administrators. Thoughts?

Honestly HK5150, the person you need to get the answer from is Adam. He is the guy that would be able to explain why this hasn't worked in the past or really anyone in the upper management of NG. Theres a reason why Donators don't have this and to get it to the general public would be a bad idea. I am sure there is some other way we can figure out to possibly get an admin's attention. Not just for afks but for any other issues.

I understand. If this has really blew up in the past then I am sure there was a pretty good reason. I simply read this thread and thought that, from my perspective, this would come in handy when I play in the AM. Unfortunately though, I have played with administrators that haven't really paid attention to moving afks into spec. It seems weird to me really. It's my understanding that NG is using SourceMod for their admin function and that is easy to navigate. Perhaps this is still worth a revisit if Adam has the will...
