    should really put a map time down on the noob hideout server. that would help with the ridiculous round amounts and clear out the map cache to make it less glitchy

    as for the extremely high player cache glitchiness.
    (typing status and having over 2000 players in cache)

    if you'd rather not use public mods.
    do this. inside of the server.cfg put

    sv_shutdown_timeout_minutes 1440;mp_timelimit 1440;sv_shutdown

    copy and paste that into the server.cfg file and it will set the timeout for 24 hours;map for 24 hours;and initiate the shutdown timer; keep in mind this will also restart the server if everyone leaves... but no harm there
    **NOTE**
    This will only work if your using a server restarting (crash-prevention) software

    Thanks for coming onto the forums and offering your input. We do try to restart the servers daily. In regards to your feedback we have found in the past that if they are restarted to frequently the population drops dramatically especially during the evening hours.

    I'm sure adam will offer further input.

    you don't have to do a full restart. just make the map reload again.... the performance past 50 rounds per team makes majority of your truly skilled players leave.
    reload the map like every 3 hours

    "mp_timelimit 180"

    tends to bring a little competition into the server as well... seeing as there is an end. forces the teams to try and keep the better score

    Its called noobgalore for a reason lol. But really though yes a skilled player or 2 might leaver better then 32% of the server leaving because of a map reset. Statistically 29%-34% of the server leaves on a rotation or restart.

    That is the problem there is an end or a change to log off for players. Bad players or okay players that have been working on their toward having high scores and have nothing to shoot for anymore because everything has been reset. They log.

    I guess the reasoning is change the server for the 1-2 that notice the very subtle difference. If its restarted once a day at the lowest time almost no one should tell the difference. Yes, there will be days that we miss restarting it, but it far out weighs restarting it ever 3 hours.

    Your theory has been considered before to restart it, but though the 9 years we have been going we have seen the cost of restarting it really out ways the minimal lag.

    Thank you for your dedication to come on the the forum though to making the server better we really need more players like you to make sure the community runs another 9 years!

    If you see the servers getting choppy really badly get in vent yell at admin in vent they will let ya know if its possible!

    lol giggles.. not a problem at all...

    i am just curious though. Who makes the larger end of your donations? the complete noobs or the ones who are there all of the time?

    I may be wrong but my guess would be its the regulars. The regulars are who i think would meet your goals. I have seen it in an old clan server of mine. Outsiders maybe donate 5-10 bucks but a member or a regular donates 50-100 and i've seen more than that. The happier they are the more money they dish out.

    I have always complained when the server is choppy and glitchy. Then left, but last night about 2-6 am central time everyone in there was complaining... so i thought i would try to help

    i actually know how to make the server run 1000 rounds and 5000 players in cache and NEVER be choppy but it requires cvar changes out of the wazooooo lol. Starting with host_timescale 2(or more) instead of the default of 1 and then tuning all of the predictions sounds and response/interpolate systems accordingly

    im actually rewriting part of the engine to allow multiple user messages to be created at the same time.. (aka) you and i can both shoot the deagle at eachothers head at the exact same time and then both die simultaneously in a single tick.... then im hoping valve will make the changes to the game to allow such things... like a DRAW instead of ct or T win....

    most people never even notice that if your taking damage then the damage your doing isn't doing anything at all. Hence the big bloodstain on bobs face but still has 100 health

    not saying y'all don't know what yer doing just a suggestion. I am curious of all of the years of statistics. If my epiphany pans out the way it did accidentally already. Then I will be coming to you guys with a million dollar venture and hardly any labor to make it happen.

    The combined KDR for the people that donate is .89 thus making them well noobs nothing wrong with that. They just ask for it to be reset when it gets to be very bad which is about a days worth.

    Again missing the point its not about them reconnecting its about there built up scores and them being able to just click the cancel thats right in front of them because there 78 kills going to 100 has been reset. They leave its been proven and proven again and again.

    Me shooting at you is P1 is my shot hitting independently is B.... P2 is you D is your shot hitting independently... if we both shoot at each other at the exact same time Solve:


    But Personally... theoretically its pointless because the odds of shooting each other is good because if you don't kill the person the other one fires but the odds of one person delivering a fatal HS at the same time as another ya check that math near impossible so why would would valve waste time putting that in a game. Idk just personal opinion :/ machines that fire at each other, fire off at the same time are down to 1.3 ms electronically.

    Maybe you should donate they might start listening earn that loyalty! Always better to suggest a server restart not complain about the lagyness.

    Hello,

    I appreciate your input, but we absolutely will not be automating any sort of server restarts. Allow me to explain.

    These things work 'okay' on servers that empty constantly, and aren't disrupted due to server restarts.

    Reloading the map does nothing to the fragmented memory the gameserver is no longer utilizing but still occupying. Reloading the map does just that, it reloads the map, and then starts absorbing EVEN more memory. The source/OB engine has had memory leaks for YEARS now with Valve doing little to nothing to rectify the shitty code causing the memory leaks.

    That being said, our servers are always monitored and settings tweaked/changed as needed to maintain the most stable environment we can. As Stella said, we typically restart the servers once every 24 hours, or as needed. We do this manually so we can verbally notify the player base in the server of an impending restart. If we did random out of nowhere restarts, the population would be 1/4 of what it is when you join.

    Over the past 2 weeks there have been some instances where I was unable to restart the 'Hideout' server within 24 hours, The longest period in the past 2 months was 2280 minutes of play time (Which was 38 hours) and that was on 7/7/2014 and was due to the crazy hours I've been working. Typically I restart them in the early AM (EST) before I leave, unless they are packed I will wait until either Stella does it later on in the morning, or I do it when I return home.

    We also run the hardware the servers are on, so we do routine maintenance on the servers, the internal hardware, and the network. A significant amount of effort is put in to maintain what we do, automation has never been my answer.

    If you happen to be on and there appears to be an issue, hop on vent and forums and give us a headsup. Politely, as its more than irritating getting on and seeing a wall of 'LAGG LAGG LAGG' nonsense. In some circumstances, we are receiving a massive denial of service attack and are doing all we can to mitigate it while still keeping the servers operational. Please keep all this in mind, as there are SEVERAL factors that go into this beyond a 'server restart'.





    Thank you however for coming on the forums and putting suggestions into your post vs just screaming about it. I commend that. Hopefully this clarifies a bit as to how we operate it.
