Thread: Vent Troubles..Wierd Bug

Hello, I am Madsci and have been using your vent for some time and i love it. Unfortunately about a week ago my connection to you vent died. I do not know what happened, but i can technically login ( i see myself on the vent website). However, my vent on my screen remains blank. It goes through the connecting.... to the synchronizing and then nothing, there is no sound or the welcome pop up and i have left it like this for around 5 minutes and nothing happens. As I stated previously I can see that I have connected to vent from the vent website but I cannot move or talk or see anything from the vent on my computer. I do not have any idea what the problem is and I would love some help if anyone has any idea how to help.

PS I do not have a password and I have tried reinstalling vent and restarting my computer

Sounds like ventrilo is being blocked by a firewall or something. Your connection is being established through a certain protocol thats allowed, but the flow of information on a different protocol is still being blocked which is why it appears white.

If you have a firewall installed, try turning them off and attempting to connect. If it goes away, then try adding vent to the exceptions list again. If it does not rectify the problem, lets go back to the drawing board and see what could possibly be blocking the connection.

Did you recently upgrade to the latest version of Ventrilo? Perhaps the old version had the exception on a firewall and the new one doesn't.
