Thread: Vent Ping

Everytime i go on vent my ping like anywhere from 50 to 8000 and most of the time its in the thousands. I hear what people say like 30 seconds after they say it or i dont hear them at all. Im guessing its because this internet sucks, but does anyone know any other possible reasons why it does this?

Ive had ridiculously high ping before. Usually its because someone in my house either disconnected my router or like 5 other people are using internet. If you are using wifi try adding a password so no one can steal your internet or just unplug your router for 5 min.

yeah, it might also be that your program is messed up. Has it been like that since you installed, i had that problem before, i reinstalled it, and it works great nao lol

My ping reaches like 3500 or 35000 when ever I exit css. but after a few mins later it goes back to normal ping limit

when i was living at home it worked fine but when i moved to my apartment now it just stays really high. my ping in game is usually low but vent is horrible. its not wireless internet ethier i always keep it plugged in but ima try what you guys said and see what happens

maybe it's just a router problem, for some reason i've found some routers just suck with ventrilo, for whatever the reason

It is pretty laggy to me as well.

which server are you referring to being ingame and it being fine? we have hardware in different locations, and this could very well be the reason why.

Where are you gathering your ping from? ingame? invent? Both of these methods are not very accurate so if the latency differes by minimal amounts this may be nothing even alarming...

My ingame ping is fine no matter what server i join and i get that from net_graph. My vent ping is shown right in the middle of the vent window and i cant hear anything until like 30 seconds later or nothing at all. I think this internet just sucks. Its included in my rent so i have no control over it. Its basically like dorm room internet.

If youd like, goto What Is My IP Address - Shows Your IP Address and send me a PM with your IP. I will run some tests, and see if there is any issue between the routes your taking. If there is, there might be something we can do, if there isn't it can help you solidify your crapInet as the culprit :}
