    W00t Application: 1016/๖ۣۜNĢ 1016

    1. Your Name? (Real name, last name not required) Aaron

    2. Your Age? (No lies, we will find out) 25

    3. In-Game Name? (This way we can better interact in testing, etc) ๖ۣۜNĢ 1016

    4. Your STEAMID? (Type status into the console whilst ingame) STEAM_0:1:16731821

    5. What experience do you bring to the table? I have not been working with Hammer long but I do think I have a pretty good grasp of how to use it. I learn very quickly but I do much better when my learning is goal driven. I listen to what feedback is given to me and I truly process it and if it is correct/better I adopt that into how I work.

Also, I repair equipment for Coca-Cola (vending machines, fountain machines, and coolers) so I am in and out of a lot of warehouses, schools, churches, offices, and things like that so I am constantly seeing great ideas to incorporate into maps. However my flaw is that I am just not that great at playing CS:S (yet) so I sometimes don't know how to turn a great idea into a playable and balanced level. Which is why I am interested in getting involved in a great team.

I don't know any programming (I started learning C++ but did not have a real goal so never really got anywhere), I can do html/css stuff but have not in a couple years so I would have to refresh my memory. I am interested in learning anything about design and programming and usually pick it up pretty fast (again if a goal is in mind). If there is a void in the development team I am willing to devote my spare time to fill it.

I realize I may not be a very attractive candidate, but I wanted to throw this out there so that if you are not interested I can find out why. Then I can work to fix that and re apply later.

    6. Are you comfortable working in a group setting? Yes I love working in a group.

Additional information:When I was a senior in high school a program started in my school (E.A.S.T. Lab) that gave me access to a lot of great software and equipment. The class had no real direction or assignments we just had to learn about the equipment/software with no help from the teacher. We had to use the books that came with the equipment/software, the internet, and our peers. The only assignment was that at the end of every week we had to sort of showcase what we learned (via a powerpoint presentation). We also had to submit ideas for a major final end of the year project that we would take to a conference of all the schools in the state that had the same program. My idea was picked and I led the team to get it completed in time.

We used softimage|xsi to made a 3D model of the school. We took an over head shot of the model and put a button with the teachers name on it in each room(I think the program we used was flash but then tried to switch to something like director because flash couldn't handle what we were doing) and when a student clicked on a teacher the program switched to a walk through video (done in softimage) that took them from the nearest door to the teachers room. Once they made it to the room a video overlay would play of the teacher introducing themselves to the student and giving them a rundown of what to expect on the first day in that teachers class. The idea was that this could be distributed with the new student/beginning of the year packets so students could come to class and know exactly where their classes were and sort of have a feel for what their teacher was like.

The project was a rough sort of prototype that never really got polished/completed but we ended up winning first place. Which won our school a pretty cool little tablet PC and a trip for 3 students to go to a nationals type conference in I believe California or maybe Florida (which I did not get to go to since I graduated, bitches).

Anyway all that long gibberish to say a) I talk too much. b) I can learn well via the internet, hands on experience, and my peers. c) I got screwed out of a free trip...

Also important information is that I work 9:00- 21:00 mon-thurs on those days I can only work on stuff for maybe 30 minutes before work and about an hour or so after. I always stay up till 2:00 or 3:00 on Thursday night. Friday is usually mostly family time with my wife and son but I can still work on stuff here and there. Saturdays my son goes to his grandparents from 9:00-17:00. While he is gone my wife works on school stuff and I usually get to do whatever I want. Sundays are a mix and always different. Also I usually have a couple hours at work at the end of the night where I read or watch youtube videos on my phone (Droid). So if I need to learn something I can watch tutorials on it, read websites/wiki about it, or buy/checkout form the library a book to learn it.

I want to contribute to NG but money is always tight for me so I think I could help the community in this way. Also I would love to see a server someday running NG exclusive content and growing to an even larger community because of it.

Your completely wrong about that dude. We welcome anyone, no matter the experience, and we just like for the members to be dedicated, and you obviously demonstrated that you would be dedicated.

    lol

Anyways, everything about you looks good to me. You wrote a well thought application, and I've also seen some of your work in your other thread (and it looks good). You also seem to have taught your self a lot about Hammer and its good to see that.
