I'd recommend a Border Collie, smartest dogs you'll find. I have a friend who has a small farm with about 40 head of cattle, and it's great to watch his 3 collies herd the cows into the barn. The only problem with them is that they're working dogs so you have to keep them occupied or else they get bored. I've been thinking about getting a dog also, and I've narrowed it down to either a Collie or a Whippet. I want a good disc dog, that I can take to the course, teach him how to do some disc tricks, now that would be fun *

I agree they are smart but not great apartment dogs, cause they do get bored and spaz out lol.. i've seen plenty of the border collie apartment dogs and they're just pyscho cause they're so bored, but if you do things like agility and fly ball then that would be great! German Shepherd rock! I've own a couple in my time smartest loyal dogs you can find out there! they also make great children dogs! ^_^

Crazy you guys...some dude at work has a border collie he brings in. She was abused and he adopted her. She's a beautiful black and white dog...absolutely gorgeous. I've looked at them and am considering it.

WW: We've had 3 shepherds now (my family that is) and they were definitely all great.

Yeah all working dogs need some space, my cousin got a purebred Husky and he lived in an apartment, I told him not to but he did it anyway. He ended up giving him away.

Way way different dogs in my opinion...a collie would be way more docile.

Huskys and Collies were bred for different jobs. A Husky was bred just to pull and run, where a Collie was bred to be able to listen to commands and herd.

Just sayin it'd be way easier having a collie in an apartment...doing that to a husky is nuts.

Oh I know I just hate to see a Husky mistreated that way, they need ALOT of room so they can run, because thats all they want to do. Nothing worse than seeing a dog like that in a small 6x4 kennel *
