    2. Game Servers News

It has been some time since we have had to make any adjustments to hardware, however as we strive daily to continue to bring you an uninterrupted and enjoyable experience we found these steps necessary to take at this time, due to the cost effective solutions we have been provided. This solutions will increase our capacity with no monthly change in price. How can we go wrong?

Eventually, every machine will go through a phase of hardware based upgrades in the near term. We began the process last night, on Dallas2, culminating with a full new build out, inclusion of a raid controller, more ram, newer SATA drives with 8x the Cache as the previous drives, and new to our buildout are brand new SSD drives. The gameservers will now be running solely on the SSD drives. This will result in a significant improvement in disk access times over the slower SATAII drives we previously used. This in turn will greatly improve the game engines ability to quickly calculate positions, entity placement times, and maintain that delicate balance to produce the best shot registration in the gaming community.

While many communities stuff there hardware to the max, we don't fill any hardware past 50% capacity @ MAX PLAYERS, and these new upgrades will further lower those numbers not seen anywhere else.

We hope our continued effort to provide the best for you is as exciting for you as it is for us.

Stay tuned for more upgrade news as we build our platform for tomorrows games! We will be prepared! Will you be ready?

Most of us grew up with Link, kicking ass and collecting rupees. Well, turns out that Hyrule isn't the only place Link can kick some dungeon ass!

The New York Times on February 10th 2013 published its list of best-selling books for that week. Scrolling through to look for a new read for the boring day @ the office due to the snow, I came across a title I recall since my childhood. In the "Hardcover Advice & Misc" listing, I found "The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia," a book published late last month (January 2013) by Dark Horse Books and Nintendo LTD.

The book is authored by Akria Himekawa, Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma and is described as "containing an unparalleled collection of historical information on the famed franchise". Hyrule Historia beat out quite the significant opponents in the first week including "Shred: The Revolutionary Diet," which took second. "Rebooting Work" came in right behind in third.

Hyrule Historia is currently priced at $34.99 can be purchased for only $19.24 from Amazon, however is currently sold out---More units expected this Friday.

    WAR OF THE HITBOX

    Counter-Strike Source Hitboxes

    Counter-Strike Global Offensive Hitboxes

According to Valve's Officials some of the 'current' changes in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are visible and some are felt. The developers state that all of the changes interplay with one another.

One change that the beta testers may have noticed, or even missed, and whose impact might be mis-attributed to other factors, is that the hitboxes in CS:GO are smaller. You can see the difference in the above images.

In Counter-Strike: Source, most have grown accustomed to generous hitboxes that expanded on the character’s model. In CS:GO the hitboxes more accurately portray the character. A near miss? Is a miss.,,,No more crying about the server, the player, and the game. You missed, it's your fault.

Well we know some of you are also still CS1.6 players, and so you might ask how does this compare to Counter-Strike: 1.6? The actual hitboxes surrounding the characters in 1.6 are generous, just like in CS:Source, but the models are on a smaller scale, so they’re harder to hit. So this was one change where valve apparently wanted to split the difference between the two games.

They are using the more appealing larger model size but still force players to be more accurate.

Now that we have armed you all with this knowledge, what first comes to your mind about how the shots will be fired in CS:GO? Does this define, or change your opinion on what the weapon accuracy in CS:Go will be?

Give us your opinions and we'll provide the feedback to Valve!
