Thread: ye olde admin y server advice

[FONT=Times New Roman]I know I am new to this community and haven't been on lately (home internet went out and spring break).
But I feel I need to give some feed back.
I am a former admin of another community, that went down the tube because we didn't take care of issues, and I know what it is like to deal with all the crap ya'll go through, but I've noticed nothing really gets dealt with unless it's a blatant hacker or mic spammer. I like ya'll so here i go because i don't want to make the same mistake.

this is about Office server in general and what i've observed in it, but i'm sure you've heard it all before

1. Lack of Admins.

The reason the community I was in fell was because of inactive admins, and we like, how ya'll did, removed their powers, but we got new one's through recommendations and an application. The most important thing you need is active admins. Their are people on the server who always play and can hold the fort down. the servers fill up on their own already, but they would fill up way faster if you had more active admins, especially since it's counter strike.

2. Obnoxious players.

There are quite a few players who think they are a badass and will literally shut people up just to hear there own voice and start fights. Regulars have resorted to turning off voice chat because of these players ruining the game for them. I myself just mute those players but it's slowly getting worse. there is one group in general causing this and I'm sure everyone knows of whom i speak. So a good muting or talking to can help bring back voice chat for everyone. If you were an asshole in my old community and enough people complained, you got banned, we had one individual turn himself around and eventually become admin because of him getting banned. you just got to lay down the law and earn the players respect

3. Derogatory language.

You lose membership when you allow players to say words such as f****t and the rest of the bunch. It has become a mainstream to say such words, but it's like dropping the N-bomb, it may not seem like it but it is. Also there is a lack of enforcement with bad language, more admins can fix that.

4. Donations

[FONT=Tahoma][FONT=Times New Roman]People do not want to donate to a server with a small admin pool that can barely enforce rules. I myself cannot donate because poor college kid.[/FONT][/FONT]

So this pretty much comes down to admins. ya'll need more of them.

I implore you to take a peak at this thread: Noob Galore Gaming Community - NoobGalore suspends Admin Recruitment Program effective immediately

We are well aware of the issues, and are working hard to rectify them and continue our 10+ year existence :} We are always in need of quality admins, however, we will no longer simply just 'add' people because we 'need' people. They need to fit the bill, and we hope the community understands our reasoning behind doing this.

We however will not be enforcing any sort of 'bad language ban' . There are other communities with filters in place for PG-13 gaming. I don't intend to ever proceed in that direction.

I just want to say that 98% of the time or more, the server has no troublemakers, hackers etc.

So if you do enjoy that 98% you should help keep NG alive and donate. If you can't afford it, it is fine, but we need proactive players as well. If a problem occurs in the server, please try to contact us. (see below)

We have vent, steam chat and the forums chat for when there is a need for an admin to deal with trolls. Most of the time admins will be available, you just need to contact us.

Here is the list of admins, if ever needed. Add us on steam and sign up for vent if u haven't done it yet.

1. We do have active admins, just hackers are smart enough to get on when they don't see one on.

It takes a lot of dedication to become an admin, and no one is physically on 24/7 on a server.

Most admins are aged 20 +, I think, and that's the time where they get a job and look out for themselves.

Priorities are : Life > CSS

If you believe you would be a great admin, get a referral and prove yourself.

If we had many admins, and they all get on we won't even have a good community as everyone would basically be an admin, that's why you can't purchase admin, and due to reasons as Adam mentioned above, we have disabled the admin applications.

2. Those "badass" players are trolls, and the best way is to avoid them. You talking back to a troll is you "feeding" them more reasons to not shut up.

3. 99% of the time when an admin is on, I can guarantee you an admin will use one of their binded messages to tell the player not to use that language.

4. As for donating, I am not poor, but my Paypal is all screwed up. If we didn't have a server where would you play with a giant active community.

*As far as I am concerned, I am perfectly OK with the admins that we have. They do there job and that's good. May seem that we only have a few, but there are plenty of people who can ban, slay, mute, etc.

to Adam and freezing: I know you can't just get anybody to be an admin. you want someone who is loyal to the server, is active on the forums and on the voice chat used by the group, along with trying to make sure people follow the rules.

to Adam: I understand your view as owner on the language, but whenever I am in the server and someone drops the N-bomb everyone is up in arms about it, so maybe a slap on the wrist for that at least is all i'm suggesting.

to roman: i contact admins as soon as something is going down in the server I am in.

to Freezing and adam: I did not say the admins we have are bad in anyway, i just think there should be at least 1, maybe two more, to cover the time when the currents admins are not on during times when the server is populated.

To Freezing: I mute the trolls, I do not want to take it as far as turning off voice in-game, but i get really tired of awp2 acting all chingon saying he's gonna get admin back and mute and ban people while talking to his posse.

We do actively enforce no racism. However, again, we don't ban words, or have any filters in place. If there is someone causing continued issues, please let us know and we'll check it out
