Thread: Feedback on YoLk Contest (Hideout Event)

Had lots of Fun!!! My suggestions would be
1) Lock the server with temp PW for people who are involved only, yes its nice to have other people to kill. But it is also people to kill you.
-If it should be a contest, only contenders should be the ones playing at that exact time.
2) Restart the game so it is 0-0 for the server match, also 0 for all kills and deaths for every person playing.
3) Knowing if both of my other suggestions were used, it would make it more exclusive and want non members to want to join the cause and want to be a part of our movement.
-Yes I realize it would kick people who have not applied for the contest and may upset some individuals. But posting on the server that the server would be temporarily locked for the duration of this contest ALONG
With posting the alternate server IP's so they can continue to use our servers until the contest is over and the server is unlocked.

Just a few suggestions from my opinions. I've done a few contest alike and used to run some servers back in the day(1.6 and CZ) and the fluidity was awesome and not so stressful trying to get everyone to !resetscore and make sure everyone is not on the same page.

had a great time! I'm a newer person to NG and hope to be around for a long time and would love to contribute as much as I can for this awesome community!! So far this community has been blowing me away with the overall vibes and management! It's fuckin awesome and a great feeling to be a part of this!

dust2 50 kills, let hideout be hideout and such. 50 kills for 50 dolla!

On a future event, I also agree with moving it on the Dust 2 Server as hideout gotten full so fast and trafffic for it didn't even go down during the entire Event. Moving it Dust2 included benefits are:
- Server Traffic
- More Control over who playing (So many people were just there to kill the players participating and be killed since Dust2 had a small amount of players normally)
- Hideout has a high chance of getting players stuck together, I believe Dust2 does not have this issue.

Some improvement for this event
-Schedule earlier in month to give wider range of signups instead of last minute.
-Having a server restart right when event is about to start or a map change back to the map would have a better chance to see who winning. (It was very chaotic in ventrilo having everyone manually type !resetscore and timing it right at the beginning of the round.
-Having Admins to actually be on both teams, a lot of player that wasn't in the event was constantly team flashing and blocking. And since we had a huge amount of players, it was hard to keep it in control, voice in-game and ventrilo as well as bullets flying,

Overall:
Although today event was in my opinion a huge success, today's event was one step toward a bigger and more entertaining NG and NG's Image. A lot of players who wasn't in the event who saw all the participates ask me if they can still join up or let them know in the future for type of events like these.

It does actually, I've never had it happening during spawning today but it does happen if you run into someone sometimes

We will be performing these events, and others in all of our other servers. We wouldn't ever lock the public servers though. Even when we did BG and the entire server filled with just BG players, it still generates that 'need' to play. We used to have 30+ minute wait times to get IN the server during some events.

In the future, as more people participate we will likely institute a immunity for event participants, so they are allowed to just join the server---keep in mind though, this was the purpose of stating 'be there 30 minutes early'

Overall, great job, great turnout -- we look forward to doing more. Keep the momentum going!

Good fun! Too bad I had to duck out early...or 2nd would have been MINE! I think the event was done well, and I don't think there's much you could do differently. People getting stuck will always be a problem, so them's the breaks. I think somebody mentioned during the event that it would be good to have a designated admin in the server who wasn't actively participating in the event. Boring job, but oh well. Anyhow, good times. Also, ban knifebutton from future events forever and ever. :P

-Designated admin to backup whomever is running it would be beneficial.
-Put up a sign on the MOTD that an event is happening at this time, thus when people get kicked to make room, they understand a bit more
-Vent was very crowded, maybe a non-public room for event like these (passwords change from event to event obviously)
-The team flashing/hostage killing,/purposeful blocking. etc IS APART OF HIDEOUT. While im not saying its not douchey, you just have to expect it and should follow the same rules, warning then kick then ban. Even tho this is a event, you made it public with others in the server. This stuff then becomes part of the event.
